PROGRAMS
NHSGN operates three programs:
Affordable Housing Program
NHSGN develops and manages affordable rental housing utilizing multiple private and federal funding sources. Since its inception, the program has created 161 units of high quality affordable housing.
PROJECTS INCLUDE:
Casimir Place: Casimir Place Apartments were developed through a conversion of a previously active Catholic Church – St. Casimir. This historic church structure was converted into 6 townhouse apartments while the rectory was demolished to allow new construction of 22 apartments for a total of 28 affordable housing units.
Milette Manor: Development of a former elementary school at 72 Vine Street to 22 units of low-income elderly housing and a Wellness Center operated by the Parish Nurse Program of St. Joseph Hospital, which provides services to over 470 elderly persons a year.
The Neighborhood Revitalization Program
Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Nashua works with inner city residents, government and private agencies to identify neighborhood needs, identify resources to address those needs and provide program support. We organize and support neighborhood events such as the annual Neighborhood Walk, social events, park and street clean up projects, which bring youth and adults together.
The Homeownership Program
Started in 1994 to address blighted conditions and increase homeownership opportunities in the inner city. It offers comprehensive support through seminars and individual counseling to first time, low and moderate income homebuyers from the initial planning stage through the mortgage application process and the purchase of a home. Post purchase, homeowners receive help in budgeting, dealing with unforeseen difficulties and even working through foreclosure avoidance, if necessary.
